Background:
Captain of the 5th Division, with Hinamori Momo as his lieutenant. Through careful cultivation of her loyalty, she becomes entirely dependent on his existence. Thus, the shock at his sudden betrayal and subsequent attempt on her life.
His goal in manipulating Soul Society all those years was so that he might obtain the Hyougoku, a device created by one Urahara Kisuke for the purpose of creating shinigami/hollow hybrids-- known as both Arrancar and Vizards. But his ultimate objective is to kill the king of Soul Society. To do this, he needs the royal key, in order that he might enter the dimension in which said king resides. But in order to use the key, Aizen needs to gather 100,000 souls from Karakura, the town in which the main protagonist Ichigo resides.
Very little is known about his actual past; before being named as Captain, he served as lieutenant. It is around this time he likely met Kaname Tousen and lured him to his side.
Ichimaru Gin, another longtime companion of his, is said to be the only man whom Aizen's ever truly viewed as his subordinate. Everyone else has been pawns in his selfish game.
The strange world in which he resides-- Hueco Mundo-- is a sprawling complex, and fairly primitive outside the compound he and his underlings inhabit.
One day, in an attempt to make it into the living world, he found himself in Avoria... Stripped of all powers save for his personal skill in swordplay and hand-to-hand combat. He deeply grieves the loss of Kyōka Suigetsu, his zanpakutou which can force complete hypnosis on anyone who's seen it in its state of release.
He now spends his days teaching social studies classes. This is to say nothing of the secret experiments he regularly performs, in a desperate attempt to regain his powers.
